Lime requirement (kg/100m2) = (target pH – current pH) x soil texture factor.
Soil texture factor = Loam to clay loam: 40 Sandy loam: 30 Sand: 20 Raising the soil pH by up to 1 unit is recommended.
For example: to raise a sandy loam soil of pH 4.8 to pH 5.5 we need to calculate (5.5 – 4.8) x 30 = 21 kgs of lime per 100m2 is required.
