Blue Couch is a popular choice in northern areas of the country where it thrives under higher temperatures, it is renowned for its fine texture and vibrant blue-green colour. Thriving in full sunlight, it forms a dense carpet-like lawn with fine blades, creating a lush and inviting outdoor space. Resilient in high temperatures, Blue Couch requires more water and nutrition then newer hybrid couch varieties but is still a great grass.

Mowing Blue Couch:

Maintain a consistent mowing routine for your blue couch lawn, aiming for a height of 38 to 50 mm. Blue couch can become quite thin so regular mowing promotes a dense lawn, ensuring a well-groomed and healthy turf. Use a sharp mower blade to avoid stress on the grass and mow more frequently during the growing season for optimal results, reduce mowing in cooler periods as it may not be required.

Watering Blue Couch:

Blue couch thrives with deep, infrequent watering but is thirstier than many other couch varieties. Provide your lawn with enough water to prevent dry patch forming, adjusting based on weather conditions. Water deeply to encourage a robust root system and drought tolerance. It is recommended to use a sprinkler or irrigation system to ensure even water distribution, especially during hot and dry periods.”

Weeding Blue Couch:

Combat weeds to keep your blue couch lawn looking great. Regularly inspect and manually remove any small weeds that emerge, for larger infestations apply a herbicide. Consider pre-emergent herbicides in the early and end of the growing season to prevent weed establishment.

Fertilising Blue Couch:

“Nourish your blue couch with a balanced fertilizer, applying it in spring and late summer. Opt for a formulation with a higher nitrogen content for vibrant color and density. Follow recommended application rates for optimal results. Soil testing can help tailor your fertilization approach to address specific nutrient deficiencies.”

Renovate Blue Couch:

You can revitalise your blue couch lawn with occasional renovation. Aeration can enhance soil health and promote better water and nutrient absorption. Regularly assess your lawn’s condition to identify and address any issues, ensuring a resilient and visually appealing blue couch lawn.
